Reyes extends Sevilla stay

Jose Antonio Reyes will remain at Sevilla after signing a new two-year contract with the UEFA Europa League champions.

The forward, born just outside Sevilla, started his career with the Andalusian club and made an emotional return in January 2012.

Reyes future was uncertain with his contract due to expire at the end of this month, but the 31-year-old has put pen to paper on a fresh deal.

The former Arsenal man helped Sevilla win back-to-back UEFA Europa League titles and is set to feature for Unai Emery s men in the Champions League next season.

Departing the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan is goalkeeper Mariano Barbosa, who has been released 12 months into a two-year deal.

Argentine keeper Barbosa made just two appearances in 2014-15 due to the emergence …

Tuchel criticises ´insufficient´ display from PSG

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Thomas Tuchel was critical of a poor performance from his players after their 2-0 home defeat to Reims in Ligue 1.

Goals from Hassane Kamara and Boulaye Dia secured a surprise victory for Reims at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday as PSG slipped to their second defeat of the season.

PSG remain top of the table after seven matches but are only ahead of second-placed Angers on goal difference.

The underwhelming manner of the defeat was what irked Tuchel as they lost at home in Ligue 1 for the first time since May 2018 – a run of 22 matches.

I m disappointed with our performance, Tuchel said.

Playing in the Parc with the Parisian jersey is always special, and it is true that the performance was insufficient.

Wells set for Queens Park Rangers loan

Queens Park Rangers are closing in on the loan signing of Burnley forward Nakhi Wells, according to Sky Sports.

Wells signed for the Terriers last summer though he played just forty-six minutes in the league last season, across nine brief substitute appearances while he also came off the bench in the Clarets’ 4-1 FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester City.

Prior to his switch to Burnley, Wells played over a hundred and fifty times for Huddersfield Town, scoring forty-nine goals and was part of the squad that achieved promotion via the play-offs in 2017.

Maradona slams beaten S. Korea after rout

Argentina coach Diego Maradona was scathing of opponents South Korea after his side s 4-1 rout in Thursday s World Cup Group B clash.

Maradona s side are on the verge of a last 16 place after the victory at Johannesburg s Soccer City as Real Madrid s Gonzalo Higuain scored a hat-trick, after South Korean forward Park Chu-Young had earlier scored an own goal.

But when asked whether he felt Argentina had raised their game in the second half after a mistake by defender Martin Demichelis allowed South Korea s Lee Chung-Yong to score just before half-time, Maradona was not amused.

Look, let me tell you, South Korea was never capable of controlling us, they never dominated any part of the match, said Maradona angrily after his side went into the break 2-1 ahead.

Antic keen to stay on as Serbia coach

(GSM) Radomir Antic wants to continue as Serbia coach despite his team s early exit from the World Cup.

The 61-year-old tactician has been in charge since August 2008 and he was still keen to carry on in the post.

When I signed a contract with the Serbian Federation I accepted a contractual obligation, said Antic.

And I have no intention of going back on it.

Serbia beat Germany 1-0, but lost 1-0 to Ghana and 2-1 to Australia in Group D.

I think that we made a good impression, he added.

We beat Germany and gave it our all in trying to win our third match (against Australia). I believe that those are sufficient grounds for me to continue in charge of the national side.

Marseille appoint Michel as Bielsa replacement

Marseille have appointed Michel as their new head coach.

The Spaniard takes over at the Stade Velodrome as a replacement for Marcelo Bielsa, who resigned following Marseille s season-opening defeat to Caen earlier this month.

Bielsa s departure was followed by a defeat to Reims in Marseille s next league match, and the club will now look to Michel to quickly turn things around as they aim to improve after narrowly missing out on UEFA Champions League football last season.

Former Spain international Michel, who won six La Liga titles with Real Madrid as a player, has already enjoyed great success as a coach, having won two Greek Super League titles in his time with Olympiacos.

Michel s contract with Olympiacos was terminated in January following supporte…

Arteta: Beating Everton would provide mental edge

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta said their road trip to Everton could provide the mental boost to propel the Londoners into Europe.

Everton, Arteta s former club, have a game in hand on Arsene Wenger s men, trailing them by four points in the race for the final UEFA Champions League spot. While Arteta understood the mathematics behind the Goodison Park fixture, the Spaniard was looking to get some positivity back into Arsenal s mindset after three games without a win.

The game at Goodison is going to be really important, Arteta said.

Not only for the result, because there will still be another five games to go, six for them, but in mental terms.

It will be a big boost if you win and hard to take if you don t.

Arteta said a victory over Roberto Martinez s re…

Manchester City in Sane talks

Are Burnley still in danger of the drop?

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has recently conceded nerves are getting the better of his side during their poor run of form.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche admitted the side are getting nervous following their poor run of form in 2017 which sees them sliding down the table and closer to the Premier League relegation zone.

The Clarets looked home and dry after a bright start to the season, but the newly-promoted outfit are now looking over their shoulders as their points tally slows considerably and the sides below them start making up ground.

Burnley can’t buy a win of late

Sean Dyche’s Burnley side are currently 16th in the Premier League table with 36 points from 34 games this season. The Clarets were ninth in the division with 29 points back in January, but…

Euros would be nice, but Greenwood eyeing Europa glory with United

Mason Greenwood is focused on Manchester United s bid for Europa League glory as his late season form continues to propel talk of an England recall for Euro 2020.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakout season at Old Trafford last term, his 17 goals making it the joint most prolific season for a teenager in United s history – level with George Best (1965-66), Brian Kidd (1967-68) and Wayne Rooney (2004-05).

He found the going somewhat tougher this time around and had five goals in 39 appearances across all competitions heading into the March international break, when he failed to make Gareth Southgate s squad.

Since April 1, Greenwood has eight goals in 11 games, with six in seven in the Premier League making him the division s joint-top scorer alongside Burnley s C…
